Lawyer Jia, Hongwei was retained by a foreign company from one of the Belt and Road nations to present a report on certain legal issues as a Chinese legal expert.

The dispute was over the construction of a mine wharf between the foreign client and an overseas subsidiary of a state-owned enterprise in China. The parties submitted the dispute to an arbitration tribunal at the International Chamber of Commerce Arbitration Centre. Lawyer Jia’s report helped the tribunal form a better understanding of the relevant Chinese legal provisions. The tribunal overruled a mistaken view held by the opposing Party, and eventually parties reached a settlement.
